How to make a transparent background in Windows 7. How to make a window transparent in Windows? Everything was done correctly, but the transparency has not changed

After upgrading to Windows 10, users noticed the disappearance of a feature such as window transparency. Previously, it was implemented by installing the Aero theme. In the new operating system, the developers decided to remove it, since it consumes a lot of resources, and the top ten are not created for weak PCs. However, in order to restore the transparency of windows, third-party developers have released special programs, the principle of which is worth considering.

Restore window transparency in Windows 10

To enable transparency of windows and taskbar in Windows 10, you need to use third-party programs. Among them it is worth highlighting the most popular ones, namely:

  • Classic Shell;
  • Aero Glass.

Classic Shell is a free program that can be used to make the Start menu, taskbar, and windows in Windows 10 transparent. The program also allows you to set the level of transparency. To enable the glass effect, follow these steps:

  • Download and install the program. Follow the prompts of the installation wizard.
  • Let's launch the program. Check the “Show all settings” checkbox. The remaining tabs will appear.
  • Go to the “Windows 10 Settings” tab. Check the box “Glass effect” and next to the item “Taskbar transparency” set the transparency level, where 0 is completely transparent.

You can make the windows and taskbar look the same again in the same way by undoing all changes.

Aero Glass is compatible with Windows 10. With its help, you can enable window transparency and make the taskbar less visible. To do this you should do:

  • We download ONLY the latest version of the program from the official website (earlier versions do not work).
  • We launch the installation and follow the prompts. At the stage of choosing a theme installation, select Aero. If you select others, you will have to separately adjust the transparency of Windows 10 windows.

  • After installing the software, the taskbar, Start menu and windows will become transparent. If you want to reduce or increase the degree of transparency, you should go to the “Control Panel”, select “Personalization”, and then “Color and Appearance”.

IMPORTANT! Before changing the appearance of the Windows 10 operating system, you should create a restore point.

I offer a selection of my tips on how to optimize Windows 7. Most of the recommendations are relevant for systems that have an insufficiently powerful video card, memory and processor:

Do the following: Start - Control Panel - System. Choose Advanced System Settings.

In the window that opens, select Advanced - Performance - Options

In the tab Visual effects choose . Apply. Let's get a classic interface design.

If this view does not suit you, then you can enable one of the themes included in the Windows 7 package. On the desktop, right-click and select Personalization. And choose one of the design themes.

After selecting a theme and changing the design, you can further speed up the mode Aero Glass, turning off the transparency effect. In the window Personalization select an item Window color, and uncheck the item Enable transparency.

Save the changes and close the windows. In this mode, all mode features are retained. Aero Glass, and at the same time do not load a weak video card.

This article will focus on setting the transparency of windows and the taskbar in the Windows 7 operating system.

With the advent of the Windows Vista operating system, a new window display design was developed, called Aero.

The Aero style is about adding a transparent effect to the borders of windows and the taskbar, which gives a beautiful appearance.

It is worth noting that enabling this effect significantly reduces system performance. But on modern computers this is not noticeable - everything works fine.

On earlier versions of Windows 7, the transparency effect is not available. Therefore, you can make windows transparent only with the help of special software, but you will not achieve the ideal effect.

OS on which window transparency is not available, regardless of bit depth:

Windows 7 Starter

Windows 7 Home Basic

The screenshots clearly show the difference between the regular window style and the Aero style.

How enable transparency?

Window transparency is enabled in the theme settings. In order to enter this menu, you need to right-click in an empty area of the screen and select Personalization.

Context menu

If you have selected a simplified (basic) theme, then you should select a theme from the Aero tab

Selecting a theme

After which, the windows may become transparent. If it does not appear, then you should select Window color

put a tick next to the item Enable transparency.

Window color

Also, here you can choose the color scheme for the windows, and also customize it for yourself by first opening the spoiler Show color setting.

If the button to turn on transparency is hidden (it is impossible to click on the checkmark), this will mean that either the drivers for the video card are not installed, DirectX is not installed, or the equipment is incompatible when using this effect.

Not all themes support the transparency effect. Transparency will only be available in themes from the Aero tab.

This concludes my article. In subsequent articles we will look at many more ways that will help embellish the appearance of the operating system.

For a long time, among Windows OS users, the issue of the appearance of transparent windows in the seventh version was discussed. Everything is so and not so, there was a lot of talk, but in reality not everything turned out as expected. Yes, we were provided with an excellent Windows Aero interface, but one interface did not solve all our needs. We were able to observe a transparent window only in one option, when you move the cursor to the right of the clock, then you can really see that the windows become transparent, and that’s all. This is not enough.

Why do we need transparent windows? Yes, just for convenience. For example, you work at the same time and watch basketball online. Then it’s simply better for you to make some transparent windows for yourself. They can be made using several programs. The first one I want to present is the Vitrite program. Another program similar in its functions to the Whitewright program is the GhostWin program. Of course, these two programs complement each other, so you can use them both. There are many programs for creating transparent windows, and it makes no sense to consider them all. We will focus on these two.

Using the Whitewright program, you can make one specific window transparent. Installing the program itself will not make you rack your brains. Everything will go quickly and beautifully, even without advertising. Transparent windows are controlled using hotkeys after installing the program. Let's say you wanted to create a transparent window for yourself. To do this, you should press the key combination “Contral Shift” and any number from 1 to 9. The number means how transparent the window will be. If 1-10%, 2-20%, 9-90% transparency. If you want to return the window to its previous appearance, you will need to press the same key combination, only with the number 0. Also, using this program, you can set the priority window on top of all other windows. To do this, press the “Contral Shift Plus” key combination.

As for the GhostWin program, its functions are almost the same, only slightly different controls. If you right-click on the window title, a menu will appear from it, in which you can choose the degree of transparency of the window. If you want to return the window to its previous state, just press the “Normal” key. The difference between GhostWin and Whitright is that in GhostWin you can make a window transparent even when dragging and resizing. It is very comfortable.

To summarize the above, we can say that if you need to make transparent windows for convenient work, download these programs that I recommended. When installed, they do not bite each other, but interact normally.

The command line for the majority of even very confident Windows OS users is still nothing more than the black, frightening archaism of DOC. Many times, operating systems have replaced each other, surprising each other with functionality and interface, but the black command line window has remained unchanged. However, getting rid of a dark spot on the screen by making it transparent will not be difficult.

How to Make a Transparent Command Prompt Window in Windows 7

The miniscript “Glass Cmd” will help you create a command line window. All that is required is to download the appropriate program, unpack the files and run Glass CMD.exe
Actually, these are all the manipulations that will make the command line transparent and attractive.

The only thing that can be confusing is that some antivirus programs sometimes recognize a file as a virus due to its format, but this is erroneous. One more nuance - transparency will remain as long as the program itself works. Its icon can be easily found in the tray (lower right corner) and, if necessary, disabled by right-clicking on it and clicking “exit”. Accordingly, after each shutdown of the computer you will have to do all the simple manipulations again.

Keep transparent window effect after restart

If you need a transparent command line window all the time, and every time you turn on the PC, starting the program manually is not your option, then “autorun” will help you get out of the situation. First, send the program shortcut to the desktop. To do this, right-click on the “Glass CMD.exe” file and select “send” > “desktop” from the context menu.

Then in the “start” menu you need to find the “startup” folder, right-click on it and select the “open” option.

And finally, transfer the shortcut we created earlier to this folder. The window color should change after reboot.

Everything was done correctly, but the transparency has not changed

Most likely, Aero Peeck is disabled on your system. To enable it, right-click on “start” and select “properties”.

In the window that appears, in the “taskbar” tab, you need to enable the “Aero Peeck” option and click “ok”.

Return to the desktop, in the personalization section, set any background theme from the Aero options and just enjoy the pleasant and aesthetically pleasing transparent command line window and a nice background theme at the same time.

Owners of the Windows 10 operating system are luckier than others. The functionality of the command line was significantly expanded with new hotkeys, made it possible to select text, and also taught the command line to become the desired color and transparency.

How to adjust transparency

The good news is that you don’t need any third-party programs: just open a command prompt window, right-click on the window title and select “properties” from the context menu that opens.

The “colors” tab has various options, including setting transparency. Well, then all that remains is to choose the degree that is convenient for you.

Therefore, if you have Windows 7 or 10 and at the same time you are the type of PC user who knows how to not only play solitaire, but also manage the command line, but would like to abandon its outdated, scary black background, then in your piggy bank Now there are several simple ways to make it aesthetically pleasing and easy to work with.
